อุตสาหกรรมแม่พิมพ์และอุตสาหกรรมเครื่องจักรขึ้นรูปเที่ยงตรงสูง นับเป็นกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมที่มีความจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งต่อการเติบโตและพัฒนาการของ อุตสาหกรรมเชื่อมโยงอื่น ๆ รวมถึงมีบทบาทที่สำคัญต่ออุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์ ซึ่งจัดเป็นอุตสาหกรรมที่มีการขยายตัวและส่งผลต่อนโยบายทางเศรษฐกิจของ ประเทศเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ในสภาวะการณ์ปัจจุบันที่อุตสาหกรรมของประเทศยังคงขาดแคลนผู้เชี่ยวชาญและ วิทยาการสมัยใหม่ เพื่อการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมของประเทศ อุตสาหกรรมเม่พิมพ์และอุตสาหกรรมเครื่องจักรขึ้นรูปเที่ยงตรงสูงจำเป็นต้อง ปรับตัวอย่างรวดเร็วให้ทันกับกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมอื่น และถึงแม้จะมีการสนับสนุนจากภาครัฐในการพัฒนาขีดความสามารถทางการแข่งขันและ ด้านตลาด แต่นโยบายโดยรวมยังคงไม่สามารถช่วยให้เกิดผลลัพธ์ในแนวทางที่สอดคล้องต่อ ภาพรวมของอุตสาหกรรมได้อย่างชัดเจน ดังที่กล่าวถึงปัญหาข้างต้น การจัดทำแผนแม่บทอุตสาหกรรมสำหรับอุตสาหกรรมแม่พิมพ์และอุตสาหกรรมเครื่อง จักรขึ้นรูปเที่ยงตรงสูง มีความจำเป็นต่อการกำหนดทิศทางของอุตสาหกรรมภายใต้การสนับสนุนจากองค์กรของ รัฐ แผนแม่บทอุตสาหกรรมจะเป็นแผนที่ในการกำหนดส่วนงานเพื่อการพัฒนาอย่าง บูรณาการสู่กลุ่มอุตสากรรมทั้งสอง เพื่อสนองความต้องการของชาติ โดยศูนย์เทคโนโลยีโลหะและวัสดุแห่งชาติได้ร่วมกับสถาบันไทย-เยอรมัน ในโครงการที่จะนำการวิจัยและจัดทำแผนแม่บทอุตสาหกรรมทั้งสองให้บรรลุ โดยศูนย์เทคโนโลยีโลหะและวัสดุแห่งชาติรับหน้าที่ในการวิจัยความสามารถและ ศักยภาพของสถาบันการศึกษาและหน่วยงานในกำกับของรัฐที่เกี่ยวข้องต่อการสนับ สนุนอุตสาหกรรมแม่พิมพ์และอุตสาหกรรมเครื่องจักรขึ้นรูปเที่ยงตรงสูง งานวัจัยดังกล่าวยังได้ขยายผลไปรวมถึงการคาดการณ์เทคโนโลยีและทิศทางในการ พัฒนาเทคโนโลยีของกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมทั้งสองเพื่อกำหนดแนวทางพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมในภาพรวมต่อไป Precision machining industry and Tool and Die industry are among the most essential industries for the growth and development of other industries. These two areas of industry play important role in supporting almost all types of industries, especially automitive industry, which is one of the fastest growing industries in Thailand. Hence, industrial and economic growths of the nation significantly rely on the Precision Machinging and Tool and Die industries. At the moment, Thai industries are encountering many problems such as, lacking of experts, equipment, and modern technologies. In order to support sustainable development of the nation, Precision Machinig and Tool and Die industries have to keep up with the rapidly and continousely growth of other industries. Although there are some supports from the government to help them compete in the world market, however, the supports were usually implemented separately. As a result, the impacts were not sufficient and efficient to enhance capabilities of the whole industries. Futhermore, there has been not much visibility on the direction in which they should follow and how the government could support them. To deal with the problem above, we need a national master plan, for Precision Machinig and Molding Industries, to provide the direction for the industries, as well as govermental organizations. The master plans would be the maps for all involving sectors in developing integrated development plans for the both industries. To serve the nation need, MTEC joins the TGI’s project to conduct a research and develop master plans for the Precision Machinig and Tool and Die Industries. The responsibilities of MTEC on this project is to conduct research related to capabilities and effectiveness of the academic institutes and government organizations, supporting Machinig and Molding Industries. The research is also focused on technology foresight and the trend of developing technology.
