The objectives of this thesis are: to study landuse

transportation modes and trip characteristics, andcertain problems affecting traffic conditions in BangKho Laem District

to study needs and requirements forthe development of road network

and to proposedevelopment guidelines for road network which arerelated to land use. It is found that the study area has mixed landused and there is a trend that more commercial areawill be development in the area, especially on Rama IIIRoad. Due to the increase of employment, these is alsoa trend that residantial area will expand in the areaas well. The main transportation mode in the study areais minibus. Trip origing mainly start at home where asdestinations are working places and the community'sservics center. It is also found that the existingtransportation network cannot match the increasingtravelling demand and future landuses. Therefore, it isnecessary to compile development guidelines for roadnetwork to support the urban expansion. The guidelinesare compose of suggestions for road networkmodification according to road hierachy, rehabilitationof slums nearby Chareon Krung Road

and improvement ofminibus srevics. The proposed roadnetwork concentrates on thedevelopment of secondary roads to form the gridpattern. The east-west road linking Chareon Krung Roadand Sathue Pradit Road and the north-south road likingChan Road and Soi Pradoo I are proposed. Connection ofminor roads are also proposed to help support publictransportation service,ie,minibus,boat and futureguided bus sustym.
