บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย :

The objectives of this research are to study theliving condition, economic and social life includingproblems on housing of the Employee of the Bangkok MassTransit Authority, in order to seek an approach to thearrangement of housing welfare, by making study onemployees at operational levels of the Bus OperationSection, particularly on Bus Drivers, and FareCollectors. Research results revealed that majority of theemployees are having their original domicile inupcountry provinces, and does not have their ownhousing, must reside in inferior quality rented houses,such as, room in one storey row of houses, or housingin slum areas. Economic situation for each individualor family, most have some money saved. Majority of BusDrivers and Fare Collectors preferred to have livingquarters close to their place of work. On their desiresfor permanent housing, most were paying attentionmainly on factor of pricing whether it is within theirability to make payment. Most employee would preferredhousing their place of work. Most employee want asingle house or a townhouse style, but their ability topay, of most of these employee shall be atapproximately 1,000-1,500 Bath per month. With limitedresources available to BMTA several approaches possibleon arrangement of appropriate housings for employeesare to obtain co-operation from National HousingAuthority to provide rented rooms of apartment type, byrenting land from other Government Organization tobuild such housings for rent and to seek co-operationfrom private sectors in the same manner as with theNational Housing Authority. Such approaches arefeasible both in the cases of the Authority and of theemployees themselves, due to the fact that employeesare not able to afford to pay for their own housing,also with the limited resources and low budgets ofBMTA. However, Housing welfare of any type are toremain a major factor of their living, to promote theirmorale and encourage their spirits in their efforts toperform duties for the development of the Organization,Housing Planning should be placed at first priority infuture Policy Planning on Welfare for Employees.
