This paper aims to explore the opportunities and limitations of Corporate Social Responsibility to improve Mexico’s development. This country is the 11th most relevant economy in terms of its GDP, however it has about 45.5% of its population living in poverty conditions. This disparity represents a development challenge that is address in this paper based on CSR. This thesis considers a range of international indices as a methodological approach to discover CSR opportunities and limitations for Mexico’s development. These indices are: the Human Development Index by the United Nations Development Programme, the Corruption Perceptions Index by Transparency International, and the Rule of Law Index by the World Justice Project. These indices are relevant because they illustrate Mexico's position on topics corresponding to CSR and development. As a result of this methodology, this paper concludes that CSR presents more opportunities than limitations for Mexico´s development in Human Rights protection, corruption minimization and poverty alleviation to improve Mexico’s development.
