| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | This paper uses discourse analysis to examine how the journalist goes about the challenging task of writing about and explaining the illusionist Derren Brown whilst attempting to maintain a position of insight. A data set of collected broadsheet newspaper articles on the topic of Brown and his performances was put together, and upon analysis three major, distinct methods were found to be used in aiding the writer to complete the task: presenting Brown as a magician, a non-psychic and a psychological mind-controller. The framing effects of these methods is examined, and their wider implications are discussed. |
