| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | The Bowen Basin coalfields have experienced considerable changes in work practices since the late 1980s. A major aspect of this process of change has involved the introduction of new shift arrangements. In many instances, the move to new shift arrangements has been associated with the emergence of 'drive in, drive out' workforces, where mine employees or contractors live on the coast and drive to and from their place of work. The safety implications of this practice are largely unexplored. This study argues that there is, in fact, significant adverse health and safety concerns with a significant proportion of drivers falling asleep at the conclusion of their shifts. |
