วิธีการคํานวณหา local distance (LD) สําหรับ DTW ได้ถูกเสนอเพื่อปรับปรุงความเร็วและอัตราความถูกต้องของระบบรู้จําเสียงพูดแบบคําโดด โดยใช้การคํานวณค่าผลต่างสัมบูรณ์ระหว่างเฟรมอ้างอิงและเฟรมทดสอบในการหา LD ซึ่งทําให้สามารถปรับปรุงค่าอัตราการรู้จําถูกต้องได้เพิ่มขึ้น 1.4% และลดขนาดของ cell ของ PLD ได้ 22.07% ขณะที่ความเร็วเพิ่มขึ้น 4 เท่า

The simple local distance (LD) calculation of dynamic time warping (DTW) is proposed to improve the speed and accuracy of an isolated speech recognition system. The proposed LD algorithm exploits the summation of the absolute difference between the test frame and the reference frame, instead of the summation of the squared difference. The simulation with C++ program on Thai speech recognition ranging from 1 to 5 syllables has been done. The result indicated that the proposed method improved the recognition rate by 1.4%. The design implementation showed that the number of logic cell used in the PLD was reduced by 22.07% and speed of processing was increased by 4 times
