| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Achondroplasia is the most well known skeletal dysplasia and is characterised by disproportionate dwarfism. The typical facial skeletal dysmorphism includes an enlarged head with frontal and parietal bossing and prominence of the occiput. The midface is hypoplastic resulting in deficiency with a short nose and a depressed nasal bridge, upturned nostrils, and a flat zygomatic region. The mandible is relatively prognathic. Body step osteotomy of the mandible was used to correct the anterior open bite of a patient with achondroplasia, and the case is presented here. The perioperative management in terms of medical, anaesthetic, surgical, and specific maxillofacial considerations is discussed. |
