Archaeological explorations in and around Dwarka have been carried out since 1963. The underwater exploration in Dwarka waters commenced in 1983 to locate submerged habitation, if any. Offshore explorations during last one and a half decade have yielded a large number of stone structures in a water depth of 3 to 7 m. These structures have been described as walls, bastions and pillars of a habitation area. However, in the recent years several questions have been raised about the dating and the original purpose of the structures off Dwarka. The underwater explorations of 1997-98 and 1998-99 were carried out to re-examine and compare the findings with surrounding sites. It appears that submerged structures of Dwarka may be part of an ancient jetty (?). A detail discussion has been made on underwater structures, stone anchors and other finds, based on the recent exploration in the adjoining areas of Dwarka. An attempt has been made to correlate the underwater structures and anchors with other sites for the purpose of possible date.
