| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | "Polynesian (Pasifika) Australians of Samoan, Tongan, Maori, Niuean, Cook Island, and Fijian heritage are a growing and identifiable cultural group in New South Wales schools. In certain parts of Sydney, this group is the fastest-growing minority cultural group. Already in a number of the school districts in the South Western and Western parts of Sydney, Samoan and Tongan are the dominant non-English-speaking background (NESB) languages. In some school districts, secondary schools, and their associated feeder schools, Tongan enrollments increased by 62% between 1994 and 2000 and Samoan enrollments grew by over 97 % for the same period. Enrollments in the secondary schools of the Penrith, Blacktown, and Mt. Druitt school districts have increased representation for students of Tongan, Samoan, and Fijian origin (Carauana, 2001)."--p. 329. |
