This collection of correspondence, memos and a short tract written between 1554-1559 have recently been discovered or identified as relating to the Marian Exile [1553-1559] and in particular to the 'Troubles at Frankfurt' of 1554-5. They comprise transcriptions of 22 original documents in 16th century English and 18 transcriptions of Latin letters that are accompanied by a modern English translation of the Latin original. Most of the original documents come from the papers of Christopher Goodman in the Denbighshire Record Office.

Edited texts, translations and transcriptions of 40 original documents recently discovered and identified that relate to Scottish and English Protestant exiles who fled from England during the reign of Queen Mary Tudor. They cast new light upon the exiles' liturgical disputes, especially the 'Troubles at Frankfurt' [1554-5]. In the longer term this helped determine the future course of the Church of England, the Church of Scotland and the 'puritan' tradition throughout the English-speaking world.

These letters and other papers provide substantial new information on exiles such as John Knox, Richard Cox, John Jewel, John Bale, Christopher Goodman, Edmund Grindal, William Whittingham and Richard Bertie. Also the relationships of the Continental Reformers, John Calvin and Peter Martyr Vermigli, to the Marian exiles.
