| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | This essay deals with the nature of names in Plato’s Cratylus. Particularly, it deals with the highly disputed part of the etymologies and the interpretational problems it faces. After I point some reasons to believe that there is a need of re-examination of the scope of the dialogue as it stands today, I have a closer look at the function of names as described by Plato in the specific dialogue. In the end, I claim that Plato considers the name as epistemic tools that make possible the division and understanding of the reality and its principles. |
