| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Word order universals have been recognized for many decades, but their significance continues to be debated. In the last few decades increasing efforts have been made towards establishing empirically whether linguistic universals are the result of individual learning biases, and if so what kind. Artificial language learning experiments have become a common method of testing, especially with word order universals. This dissertation reviews the findings and implications of several such experiments and presents the results of new study conduction on linguistic universal 41 modeled on the successful methods of previous studies. The results were inconclusive and ran counter to some previous findings, but could serve as an impetus for further research into the cause of linguistic universals. |
