บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย	:	This article explores how in the 1890s the presence of Australian pearl-shellers in the Aru Islands, Netherlands East Indies, threatened a Dutch colonial order that was heavily dependent on the maintenance of asymmetric but officially sanctioned trade between Chinese, Buginese, Makassarese and indigenous pearl-shelling Aru villagers.
