| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Biologists need to infuse bioinformatics research and educational curricula and efforts with evolutionary theory. To go beyond mere statistical pattern-matching and database management, the theoretical biology underlying bioinformatics needs to be strengthened, and its three cornerstones of evolution, biophysics, and information science emphasized. The Proteome and Genome Rearrangement-based Phylogeny, or PGRAPH, software system helps to address questions of gene order. Triangulating evidence from multiple sequence alignments, phylogenetic trees, and stratigraphic maps helps when checking the plausibility of evolutionary relationships. |
