บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย :

The purpose of this study was to survey the needs of high-school science teachers concerning the instructional television programs to be produced by the Ministry of Education. The study focused on the teachers demands in terms of the subject content, and the characteristics of the teachers quide and other supplementary materials. Additionally, this study investigated the learning conditions and facilities available for viewing instructional TV program in the schools. The questionnaires were sent out to 536 science teachers who taught subject in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Physical Biological Science in the schools that were randomly selected from the list of all high-schools across the country obtained by the department of General Education. The results gathered from 470 returned questionnaires were as follows : 1) The Needs on the Subject ContentThe teachers generally expressed a high demand on the instructional TV programs in most of the topics in their subject area. The topics selected as the top two most needed for each subject area were the fundamental principles of cultivating plant membrane, and the basic knowledge of biological science technology for the area of Biology

the advancement of industrial teachnology, and the nuclear reaction for the area of Chemistry

the AC electricity, and the sound were phenomenon for the area of Physics

and the solar energy, and the synthesis of substance for the area of Physical Biological Science. The reason underlining most of these demands was the insufficiency of instructional materials. 2) The Characteristics of Teachers Guide and Supplementary DocumentsAll teachers agreed upon the importance of teachers guide and supplementary documents to accompany the instructional TV programs. They preferred these printed materials in book format and suggested, in general, that the guide should include such information as objectives, summary of program content, and recommended exercises or activities. 3. The Learning Conditions and Facilities for Viewing Instructional TV ProgramMost teachers had some experience in using instructional TV to supplement their teaching. Although TV sets and video cassette players/recorders were available in every school, these equipments were not sufficient to satisfy the teachers demands to use instructional TV program in their class, most teachers had to set up all the equipment by themselves. As far as the learning conditions was concerned, most teachers seemed to be satisfied with the viewing conditions and facilities available.
