| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | The aim of this study was to investigate the preference of the srinakharinwirot University teaching staff on the department head recruitment process. The sample used included 209 Srinakharinwirot University teaching staff from 7 faculties, namely, the Faculty of Physical Education, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Social Science, working during the academic year of 1993. The data was obtained from a self-constructed 31-item questionnaire and the percentage was applied to the data analysis. The findings of the study were as follows : 1. Most teaching staff agreed to the system whereby the university set up regulations applicable to the department head recruitment process. 2. It was suggested that whenever the position was unoccupied, or 30 days before the present heads term ended, the University Board of Committee appoint a working committee to work on the recruitment process. This committee should be made up of representatives from the department teaching staff, the teaching staff from the faculty where the department in question belonged, and a member of the university teaching staff committee. The total number should be 5. 3. The qualifications of the head should be :- having at least 3 years of teaching experience- holding at least an M.A. with an academic position not lower than an assistant professor- being a noted academic person with some knowledge of academic administration- having a moral personality and a good human relationship- being able to dedicate oneself to the academic progress of the department 4. Those who were entitled to nominate someone for a candidate should be full-time teaching staff of that department. 5. The working committee was responsible for conveying the proposition to the candidates, whose answers, be it acceptance or refusal, were to be in written form. Also, the committee was entitled to deal with any questions arisen during the proposition period. 6. It was suggested that the working committee propose only one candidate to the University Board Committee together with his/her personal data for appointment. 7. It was preferable for a head to serve not more than two 4-year terms at a time. |
