The study of Factors Influencing the Activeness Levels of Village Health Communicators (VHCs) in Nakorn Pathom Province was carried out in April 1992. This study was a cross sectional study. The sample size of VHCs interviewed in this study was 189. The main purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the activeness levels of VHCs. Unfortunately since frequencies distributions were very small (expected value less than 5), Chi-square test only a few can applied there were : Demographic factors : sex of VHCs (male, female) there was no significant association with the activeness levels of VHCs (High, Moderate, Low) with P-value 0.0789. Psychosocial factors : readiness, before becoming VHC they often care about their village health needs and problems had significant association with the activeness levels of VHCs with P-value 0.0321, those who often care about their village health needs and problems tend to be moderate. Based on results and research experience of this study, it is recommended that for increasing the activeness levels of VHCs in future, for selection process of VHCs should be considering with age between 30-39, economic status (annual household income) > 40,000 baht, married, good health status, availability of free time of PHC, voluntary minded, readiness. Training for VHCs is very important. The training inputs required to carry out involving community on PHC. For maintaining of VHCs and to increasing activeness levels of VHCs should be considered with the clarity of responsibilities as VHC, benefits (social, health, economic), working condition, supervision and support.
