| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Tension - type headache is a symptom frequently found in most of the people. It causes suffering and decreases the quality of life. There are many methods to relieve headache i.e. administration of analgesic, massage, acupressor and relaxation. Thai traditional massage is a non-invasive technique for pain relief that can be useful. Thus the researcher is interested in comparing the effect of Thai traditional massage and paracetamol administration on level of pain and duration of decreasing pain level in tension-type headache patients. A quasi-experimental research design was implemented. The sample group consisted of 80 tension-type headache patients who were treated at out patient department of Neurological Hospital Bangkok. The sample was devided and paired into two group equally. The experimental group received Thai traditional massage for 15 minutes whereas the control group received paracetamol 1000 mg. The researcher assessed and compaired the levels of pain in both groups before and after treatment at 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes. Data were collected and analysed by using T-test. The result revealed that: 1. The levels of pain in the experimental group were statistically significant lower than the control group at 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes after treatment (p < 0.001). 2. The levels of pain in the experimental group after treatment at 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes were statistically significant lower-than that before treatment (p < 0.001). 3. The levels of pain in the control group at 30 minutes after treatment were statistically significant lower than that of before treatment (p < 0.05). There were no different of pain levels before and after treatment at 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes. 4. Fifteen minutes after treatment, 82.5 percent of the experimental groups and 25 percent of control group reported decreasing of pain level. It is recommended for further studies that the duration of pain assesment after treatment should be longer than 30 minutes in order to evaluate the full course effectiveness of the two methods. |
