The analysis had divided farmers into 3 groups, small size group with the area of 1-5 rai, medium size with area greater than 5 to 19 rai and large size with area greater than 19 rai. The averages bamboo area of these 3 groups were 3.5 rai for small, 11 rai for medium and 41 rai for large size group. The study found that net returns from sweet bamboo production was negative in year 1 and 2 but positive in year 3 and onwards. The net returns from sweet bamboo production during year 1 to year 20 were 181,477.30, 141,185.25 and 188,123.42 baht per rai, or the average net returns were 9,073.86, 7,059.26 and 9.406.17 baht per year for small, medium and large size, respectively. The discount rate of 13 % was encountered in the analysis, and found that the net present values were 22,788.78, 9,291.69 and 18,148.33 baht, B/C ratios were 1.48, 1.22 and 1.42, the internal rate of returns were 21.54, 16.58 and 18.76 % for small, medium and large sizes, respectively. The sensitivity analysis was made by given the income decreased by 15 % and cost increased by 15 %, and found that the investment was featible for both cases. The analysis on the optimum replanting period could not be identified due to standartized income was still positive, within the given 20 years of bamboo production. Since returns on investment were sound, the promotion for farmers to grow more sweet bamboo should be made. However, price fluctuation was still be the problem for farmer, to solve this problem, bamboo processing, preservation and marketing organisation should introduced into bamboo production business.
