Ban Non Si Sawat consisted of 76 households with population 396. The study used questionnaire for interviews household head. Sampling method were two levels. First, the background information servey of 50 households (65.8 percent). And second, seasonal collection of specific information on off-farm income and forest use practice from 25 house-holds. Household population averaged 5.7, about 60 percent were in adult age, most with primary school education, low economics status, and receiving main income from farm work. Household average income was 29.255.2 baht per year and debt 6,380 baht. Land use size was 32 rai per household, rent in and out 6 percent, mortgaged out 10 percent, mortgaged in 4 percent, and free land use 10 percent. About 40 percent of the village population aged between 14 to 33 years engaged in off-farm work all year round. Ratio of men to women employed was about equal. Most work were in agricultural sector which provide daily wage. Employment varied from 2 to 120 days per annum. Average annual labour was 120.5 days per person. Average annual cash income from off-farm work was 4,288.4 baht per person. Collection of forest products in national forest was observed all year round, within 1 to 5 kilometer from home. Common tree species were used multipurposely. The relationship between socio-economic factors and forest uses is independent. This indicated that some households still use forest areas and cut tree in the remaining forest land.
