Chaliewchalad is a kind of moral teaching literature. The teaching can be divided into two types, which are a direct teaching, and indirect one. The former uses proverbs while the latter uses folktales in teaching morality. Those teachings through proverbs and folktales can be grouped into three categories: family, ruler class, and general people. Through the content of the teachings, Lannas vision is expressed including the aspects of society, values, and belief. Moreover, the teachings emphasize the way of people to live their lives by their knowledge. Plot and techniques used in telling a story is a kind of metafiction. The characteristics of metafiction are as followings. The story contains more than one plot, the subplot lying in the head plot, which are composed of many folktales. The folktale is also told within another folktale and there are more than one narrator. In telling a story, there must be a proverb leading before the folktale. The teachings used in telling a story are folktales alternated with the story telling, puzzle alternated with the the story telling, and folktales alternated with the proverbs. For characters behaviors and symbolic interpretation, there are three groups of characters: human characters, animal characters, and supposing characters. All of three groups behaviors consist of demanding characteristics and undemanding characteristics for comparing to be the guidance for people to behave and live in the peaceful society.
