This research has the objectives to study about1) housing distribution, types and forms 2) spatialrelation between housing areas and working places underaspect of transportation network and public transportincluding its problems and constraints. 3) Factorsrelating to decision making on housing selection. 4)Housing problems and policies, as well as roles of thegovernment and private sectors towards housingdevelopment and resolution on housing deficiency. 5)Future guidelines on housing for industrial workers,basing on suitability analysis, improvement oftransportation networks and public transport, propertypes of housing for industrial workers to contributeto the urban development. The result shows that most industrial workers inthe study area want to choose houses by themselves. Onthe other hand, factory owners usually pay for housingand also provide bus services between factory andhousing areas. Housing problems are low condition ofliving due to a paid of rent. Some houses located farfrom factories

consequently, relate to occurrence ofaccident during travel to work. In forecasting ofhousing demands, it is found that in the year 2005 thedemand in the study area is about 47,000 units, ofwhich Amphoe Bang Pakong shares the largest. To set guidelines on housing development forserving industrial workers in the future ,suitabilityanalysis is conducted to find out suitable locationsfor housing development. It is found that thoselocations cover locations close to national highwaynumber 34 and number 314 , Jaranyanontha road, parts ofTambol Klong Tam Hru, Amphoe Muang Chon Buri, areas inMuang Chon Buri Municipality, San Suk ,Muang Si Racha,Laem Cha Bang Municipalities, areas in SanitaryDistricts of Ban Suan, Bang Sai, Ang Sila , Bang Praand areas locate near Chon Buri industrial estate (BoaWin). Further recommendations are as following

theSanitary districts of Bang Wua and Klong Tam Hru shouldbe upgraded their central services at large amphoelevel, whereas Boa Win should be promoted as a newrural service center. Transportation network and publictransport should be improved and more efficient.Moreover, railway can play a significant role ofservice in transporting workers between working placesand houses including service centers. Future housingmight develop in high-rise building such as a fivestorey walk-up apartment or flat. The development ofnew housing location should contribute to urbandevelopment. An adequate buffer green area betweenhousing and industrial areas is suggested for safetyand amenity.
