The Objective of this thesis is to study andanalyze the physical and economic conditions,population, settlement, urban system, problem andimpact in terms of land and natural resourcesutilization, development potential and constraints ofthe area, and area development trend. The land use planand natural resources management plan for KlongThatapao Basin are proposed in the study. It is found that the topological condition ofKlong Thatapao Basin comprises high mountains uplands,rolling plain, flood plain and coastal area. Thesevariety and plentiful natural resources in the Basin'secosystem are the most significant basic factors formaintaining the balance of ecosystem and economicdevelopment. The area has been utilized for variousactivities, particularly agriculture, which have causedchanges of land use pattern and deforestation, whichhave caused many problems, i.e. destruction of upstreamarea in the western part of the study area, flooding,water shortage, and deterioration of water quality inthe central and lower parts of the study area. Theseproblems impact to the resource utilization and thebalance of ecosystem. Regarding the analysis of the problems whichoccur in the study area, it is found that most problemsare relevant to the loss of resource abundantment andenvironmental destruction. The most relevant problem isthe deterioration of forest resource, which affect tothe water and soil resources. Therefore, the land useplanning and natural resources management in the studyarea are focused on the rectification of inefficientland utilization, mainly to revitalize the forest andwater resources in relation with the potential andconstraints of the area as well as its developmentpotential and role.
