| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Magnetic and bathymetric data collected in the Central Indian Basin, between 8 degrees S and 16 degrees S lat., and 71 degrees E and 82 degrees E long. have been studied. The inferred fracture zones at 73 degrees E, 76 degrees 30'E and 79 degrees E demarcate the Central Indian Basin into zones, depicting right lateral offsets of the magnetic lineations A21 to A26. Multibeam sonar surveys carried out over a part of the study area depict bathymetric evidence for the 79 degrees E fracture zone. Several seamounts are mapped in this region based on echosounding and multibeam sonar data. It is observed that these seamounts cluster along the fracture zones. The tectonic implications of the seamount distribution in relation to the fracture zones are discussed |
