วิธีการจัดตำแหน่งจุดโดยใช้ฟังก์ชันฐานเชิงรัศมี (collocation methods based on radial basis functions) เป็นวิธีเชิงตัวเลขที่ใช้แก้สมการเชิงอนุพันธ์ย่อยโดยไม่ต้องอาศัยเมช (mesh) วิธีนี้ได้เปรียบวิธีที่นิยมใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายเช่น วิธีไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์ ตรงที่มีขั้นตอนการเตรียมข้อมูล (preprocessing) ที่ง่ายกว่าและเขียนเป็นโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ง่ายกว่าเพราะแก้สมการในรูปเข้ม (strong form) ในขณะที่วิธีไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์แก้สมการในรูปอ่อน (weak form) โครงการวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อศึกษาการเพิ่มสมรรถนะของวิธีการจัดตำแหน่งจุดโดยใช้ฟังก์ชันฐานเชิงรัศมีในการแก้ปัญหาการถ่ายเทความร้อนและพลศาสตร์ของไหล ผลงานของโครงการวิจัยนี้คือ การพัฒนาวิธีการจัดตำแหน่งจุดโดยใช้ฟังก์ชันฐานเชิงรัศมีเพื่อแก้ปัญหาที่มีเงื่อนไขขอบเขตไม่ต่อเนื่อง (discontinuous boundary condition) และปัญหาขอบเขตเคลื่อนที่ (moving boundary) ผลงานวิจัยเหล่านี้ได้รับการตีพิมพ์ในวารสารวิชา การระดับนานาชาติแล้วสองบทความและอยู่ระหว่างการรอตีพิมพ์ในวารสารวิชาการระดับนานาชาติอีกสองบทความ Collocation methods based on radial basis functions are numerical methods for solving partial differential equations without using mesh. Advantages of these methods over the finite element method include simpler preprocessing step and easier implementation in computer programming since they solve partial differential equations in strong form, whereas the finite element method solve these equations in weak form. This research project aims at improving the efficiency of collocation methods based on radial basis functions in heat transfer and fluid dynamics problems. Outputs of this project are the development of collocation methods based on radial basis functions for problems having discontinuous boundary conditions and moving boundary problems. Two papers from this project have been published in international journals, and two papers are under review process.
