This research project on Local History of the Central Region is an attempt to build up the body of knowledge concerning local history together with an encouragement for local participation in the process of this study. It is hoped that the research procedure will contribute to foster cooperation among different stakeholders in the locality and at the same time to invoke historical consciousness among the local people. It is also expected that when the local pride is felt, cooperative effort and a sense of local loyalty will be the major drives moving the local communities further ahead. The selection of the target areas is based on the fact that there are different types of ecosystem in the Central Region. Thus, different localities have developed differently in relation to the diversity of eco-system. Starting from the Central West, there are mountainous areas of Tanaosri mountain range along the border. In these areas there have been the ethnic highland dwellers for a very long time.
