| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Geotechnical properties and grain size analysis of surface sediments from the CIB showed silty clays of high porosity due to loose fabric of very fine particles, bioturbation and radiolarian tests. Their water content relates directly to clay content. Sediments exhibit cohesive characteristics with increase in shear strength and decrease in water content with core depth due to consolidation. Their specific gravity varies widely indicating mineral assemblage from different sources. Change in sediment shear strength is related to water content, silt and clay contents, and kaolinite presence. The study was essential to know the sediment behaviour during nodule mining that would be affected by water content and shear strength. |
