| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Fish is a protein rich food. It forms a chief component in the diet of about 90% of the population of Goa. Capture fisheries of Goa (India) constitute a highly productive sector. They remain one of the major sources of valuable food and employment and a net contributor in the foreign exchange earnings. Due to the technological advancement in craft and gear, the marine fish production of Goa has seen a phenomental increase since early 1960s. As a result of this dramatic increase some marine fish stocks have started showing the sign of over-exploitation. There are also reports of toxic algal blooms and anoxia prevailing for long duration in the coastal waters of Goa. The fluctuating and down trend in marine fish catches appears to be the combined effect of these phenomena. |
