Abstract

          This research aim to study wastewater
treatment from swine farm by constructed wetland with vetiver grass. The
experiments were 3 treatment of wastewater level ( 30,15 and 10
cm.). The wastewater were collected every week and analysed
the water quality including acid-base (pH),
temperature (T), dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total kajdahl nitrogen (TKN), total phosphorus (TP) and some heavy metals, such as copper (Cu), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn). The wastewater quality before treatment found that pH is 7.5,
temperature was 29.2 –C, the amount
of DO 0.3 mg/l, BOD 237.9 mg/l, COD 573.8 mg/l, TKN 4.3 mg/l, TP 211.7 mg/l.
The heavy metals, Cu Fe Pb Zn, were value 0.05, 1.4, 0.4, 0.2 mg/l
respectively. The finally experiment at 8 weeks can be concluded that the plot
level 30 cm. has the pH value 7.5. The average temperature is 29 –C. The amount
of DO increased in the plot water level 30 cm. can reduced the amount of BOD (50.2 mg/l.) The 15 and 10 cm. of water
level can be treat TKN (1 mg/l). The amount of TP was more
reduced in plot level 15 cm. (6.7 mg/l). The best
treatment by vetiver grass plot was level 15 cm. which can reduce the amount of
TKN and TP.
