| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Talk between young children and their teachers is central to learning at school, yet student’s competence is often understood as the outcome of instructional talk rather than as essential to successful participation in it. Curriculum frameworks that describe students’ levels of competence frequently overlook the competence required to participate in instructional talk. This article employs Conversation Analysis to consider interaction between a student and teacher during an independent writing lesson. Discussion of their interaction establishes the link between the young student's taken-for-granted knowledge of teacher talk and the teacher's instruction. The findings suggest the importance of locating students’ competence within the context of instructional talk between teachers and students. |
