The Zingiberaceae plants of Thailand both from nature and fromcultivation including 189 species from 26 genera: Alpinia, Amomum, Boesenbergia,Camptandra, Caulokaempferia, Comukaempferia, Curcuma, Elettariopsis, Etlingera,Gagnepainia, Geostachys, Globba, Haniffia, Hedychium, Hemiorchis, Hitchenia,Homstedtia, Kaempferia, Laosanthus, Plagiostachys, Riedelia, Scaphochlamys,Siamanthus, Smithatris, Stahlianthus and Zingiber were collected. Ten speciesfrom 7 genera: Alpinia, Boesenbergia, Curcuma, Hitchenia, Laosanthus, Riedeliaand Zingiber are exotic to Thailand: Hitchenia, Laosanthus and Riedelia areexotic genera from Myanmar, Laos and Indonesia respectively. The new species arePlagiostachys sp., Scaphochlamys minutiflora T. Jenjittikul & K. Larsen and S.rubescens T. Jenjittikul & K. Larsen. In the genus Kaempferia, at least 11species are new for Thailand. The specimens were preserved in alcohol andplanted as living specimens for taxonomic study at Suan Luang Rama IX Herbariumand Faculty of Plant Science, Mahidol University. The micro-morphological characters of reproductive organs can be used toconstruct the key to species and can be used to identify the incomplete specimenwhich have only reproductive part. But many characters were found in severalgenera so they can not be used to identify the genera.
