Soybean sudden death syndrome (SDS) incited by the fungus Fusariumsolani (Mart.) Sacc. f. sp. ~iglycines~i (Burk.) Snyd. & Hans is a devastatingdisease in major soybean growing countries and was recently observed inThailand. Resistance to SIDS controlled by quantitative trait loci (QTLs). Theobjectives of this study were to identify the position of the QTLs underlyingSIDS and to verify SSR markers linked to it. A mapping population of 104recombinant inbred lines (RILs) was derived from the cross between GC89045-13-1(susceptible line) and GC8701812-2B-1 (resistant line) for determination of amicrosatellite linkage map around the QTL. One hundred and six out of 600 SSRprimers were polymorphic. Fifteen linkage groups were constructed while 25markers were found unlinked. Broad-sense heritability of disease severity was56% of total variation in the greenhouse experiment. The QTL on linkage group Jwas identified by cluster of 4 SSR markers SATT183, Sct001, Sct065 and Satt456as a new QTL conditioning resistance to SDS.
