This study intended to investigate humouring strategy in Maitree Lympicharts literary works which included 10 short stories, 10 novels, 6 miscellanies, 11 non-fiction stories and the others which he was a joint-author. The results revealed that threr were three aspects for humouring strategy : content, language and rhetoric. Content included exaggerated story, undoing story, cover story, indecent story, human figure story, human behavior story, irrelevant and misunderstanding story. Language included voice, word or word group, rhetorical word and picture of speech. Language use for voice, there was rhyme, Chinese and Indians accents, and word or word group which included play on words, repeated word, building new word, reversing word, antonym, word or word group in context which could not be used together

for rhetoric, there was the old and changing rhetoric

for picture of speech, there was simile, metaphor, personification and hyperbole. Futhermore, rhetoric included surprise ending. Humouring startegy in non-fiction story included 11 non-fiction stories, 1 environmental preservation stroies and it was found that there were 2 aspects for humouring stategy : content and language. Content included exaggerated or assumed story, cover story, undoing story, indecent story, human figure and human behavior story word. Language included word or group, rhetoric and picture of speech, including play on words, repeated word, building new word, reversing word and word or word group in context which could not be used together

for picture of speech, there was simile, metaphor and personification. It could be concluded that humouring strategy in non-fiction and entertaining literary works were as the same both in content and language, except there was no surprise ending in non-fiction literary work.
