The purpose of this experimental research was to compare the effect of hand-puppet modeling technique and role-playing on the kindness and compassion of Prathom Suksa V students of Karunsuksa school in Changwat Nonthaburi in the academic year of 1994. The subjects of twenty-four students were randomly selected from students whose kindness and compassion were lower than twenty - fifth percentile. The subjects were then randomly selected into two experimental groups, each group consisted twelve students. The experimental group I was exposed to the hand-puppet modeling technique program while the experimental group II participated in the role-playing program. The research instrument was a kindness and compassion questionnaire. The data were analyzed by t-test. The results were as follows : 1. The kindness and compassion of the students exposed to the hand - puppet modeling teachnique program significantly increased at .01. 2. The kindness and compassion of the students participated in the role - playing program significantly increased at .01. 3. No significant difference in the kindness and compassion of both groups was found.
