The purpose of this research is to design and construct a tranversely excited at atmospheric pressure nitrogen laser by utilizing local materials. The electrodes are made of aluminum and placed in parallel with 1.45 mm apart to form the laser channel of 1.45 x 10 x 400 mm(3). Nitrogen gas is flowed into the laser channel through series of holes from the top of electrodes. The laser is excited by the Blumlein circuit consists of parallel-plate capacitors capacitors C(,1), C(,2), made of aluminum foil and mylar sheets. The capacitors are charged by a d.c. high voltage power supply of 14 kV. The wavelength of nitrogen laser ligh is observed, using a monochromator, to be 337 nm. The output power of the pulsed nitrogen laser is measured to be 190 (...)J at a charging voltage of 11.1 kV. When a rear mirror is added, the output power is measured to be 250 (...)J. The nitrogen pressure dependence of the output power is also measured.
