The purposes of this study are to determine the problems of teachers in teaching swimming and the ways to solve these problems by the teachers themselves. The problems were categorized under nine headings : (a) warm-up, (b) adaptation, (c) submersion, (d) floating, (e) leg action, (f) arm action, (g) leg and arm coordination, (h) breathing and (i) stroke. The instrument used in this study is a questionnaire made by the researcher. A total of 425 swimming teachers from a population of 478 from 104 private and public swimming pools in Bangkok responded to the questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by the use of frequency, mean, and standard deviation. It was found out that the problems met with greatest intensity and solutiins are the following presented in the order of categories: (a) refusal to do exercise-appropriate exercise for age level

(b) fear of getting in the water-talking to and coaxing them

(c) refusal to submerge-inhale-exhale gradually getting in the waters

(d) stiffness-submersion for longer time

(e) knees flexed too much-quiding legs while kicking

(f) unable to push all the way back-rythmic pattern

(g) poor coordination -6-10 beats for every arm pull

(h) facing upward forward-guide their head to turn upward sideward

and (i) poor coordination of arms, legs and breathing-constant practice. However, all the problems were rated of low intensity.
