Two hundred and thirty fungal isolates were isolated from 13 deteriorating areas of paint films by spread plate technique on PDA medium. These isolates were identified into 20 genera, Aspergillus niger was a dominent speies. Sixty nine isolates that grew on paint components

3 binders and 9 pigments were selected. Further studies were made on mechanism of deterioration such as acid production. cellulase production and pigment alteration. The result shown that 35 isolates produce acid , 67 isolates produce enzyme cellulase and 45 isolates cause pigment alteration such as, pigment were stained by colour mycelium, conidia and sexual reproductive structure. Colour of pigment were change because of fungal metabolic product. Effect of five fungicides on the growth of tested fungi were investigated by Poisioned Food Technique, Standard method of Thai industrial Standard Institute and Environmental Chamber condition. Troysan Polyphase and Acticide EP were the most efficient fungicides to inhibit fungal growth at 0.5 % concentration.
