The purpose of this study was to examine the editors' andreporters' opinion on the real and expected attributes ofeconomic reporters. Survey methodology was employed for thestudy. The result of the study indicated that the editors'perceived "being single, having a bachelor degree, and giving theaccused a chance to explain" as the most significant realattributes on general characteristics, knowledge and competency,and sense of professionalism of economic reporters For expectedattributes, the editors perceived "punctuality, having 'a nosefor news', and graft immunity as most important. The reporters perceived "being active, having a bachelor'sdegree, and presenting undistorted news" as the most significantreal attributes on general characteristics, knowledge andcompetency, and sense of professionalism of economic reporters.For expected attributes, the reporters perceived "punctuality,having 'a nose for news', and presenting undistorted news" asmost important. The results of the t-tests at .05 level showed that : 1. There was no significant difference between the editors'and reporters' opinion on the real attributes of economicreporters. 2. There was no significant difference between the editors'and reporters' opinion on the expected attributes of economicreporters. 3. There was significant difference between the editors'opinion on the real and expected attributes of economicreporters. 4. There was significant difference between thereporters'opinion on the real and expected attributes of economicreporters. 5. The reporters' opinion on the real attributes ofeconomic reporters was not than that of the editors'. 6. The editors' opinion on the expected attributes ofeconomic reporters was not higher than that of the reporters.
