| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | The article provides an overview of the circulation of the coastal regime of the North Indian Ocean stretching from southern coast of Indonesia to the coast of East Africa. A special feature of this regime is that it experiences the Asian monsoons and as a result the circulation shows a distinct seasonal character. The nature of winds, precipitation, runoff, and tides in the region are summarized. Characteristics of large-scale near surface circulation and of water masses in the North Indian Basin are discussed before examining the following segments of the coastal regime: southern coast of Indonesia; Malacca Strait and Eastern and Northern coasts of the Andaman Sea; Bay of Bengal; West Coast of the Indian Subcontinent; Coast of Arabia; Coast of Somalia; and, East African Coastal Current |
