| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | Seaweed, one of the components of seashore, is the most unique and important marine living resource. Its multi-ranged applications are of economic as well as ecological importance. These plants have been a source of food, feed and medicine in the orient, as well as in the west, since ancient times. However, in India seaweed usage is confined to industrial production of agar and alginate and is scarcely used for other purposes. Goa, a state along the west coast of India is blessed with 120 Km coastline. This article gives a brief review on the occurrence of seaweeds along the Goa coast with its species wise distribution. It also focuses on the need to harness the rixh potential of seaweeds and diversify the present limited use in otehr contemporary areas of application. |
