The study of video converter program for teaching Introduction to video and television is aimed at surveying equipment’s filming and to survey the most popular program editing to convert video files of the students. We intended to study and convert in high quality video (HD) which is the students used in their work. In order to improve teaching and learning to be the most effective and in the appropriate way. This study combined quantitative and qualitative research. It was found that most students used DSLR more than video camera, and there was some students used them both in filming. Canon 60D is the most popular, was 39.73 %, for video cameras used for filming is Panasonic there are 19.18 %. Both camera can recorded in high quality video file. In addition, most students used Windows to operating system that more than 90 % and Mac operating system is 27.4%. For recorded video they choose 16:9 aspect ratio greater than 4:3 is 56.16 %. They often selected a rate of recording in 24fps, 25fps and 30 fps is 61.64 %, 30.14 % and 16.44% respectively. And they recorded image size in 1280x720 accounted for 64.38 % and full HD 36.99%. Using editing software Premiere pro is 63.01 % meanwhile the operating system of Mac is program imovie, 36.99%, followed by the Final cut pro is 12.33 %. The most popular freeware program video converter is Format factory 61.64%, Adobe Media Encoder 30.14%. Most students choose the Mpeg4 format in recorded video had 46.57 %. The results of the study were as follows : The program supports files - the most likely is that Premiere Pro is a program that converts files fastest is spent 27.3 minutes (Codec Prores 422 HQ). For a freeware application that supports the highest amount of file is program Format factory which used for record in the minimum size, the file size is 239.2 MB. Even though, the program that delivers the best quality, color tone, light and shadow and beautiful picture is Final cut Prores 422 HQ. And the programs that need to save most application is Premiere Pro:Prores. Otherwise, to comparison programs converter files between editing files and program converter files that came with it; such as program Compressor. We found that the quality and size has similar but different by the time of conversion. Based on the study’s result the researcher recommends applying other types of video converter program. The expectation of the finding is for academics in the terms of guiding to other further issues.
