The purpose of this study was threefold 1) to compare the self-care attitude and the multidimensional health locus of control among the nursing students and the faculty members. 2) to determine the relationships among the self-care attitude, the multidimensional health locus of control and the length of experience in nursing profession and 3) to determine whether the self-care attitude can be predicted jointly by the multidimensional health locus of control and the lenght of experience in nursing profession. The purposive samples consisted of 74, 74, 82, 96 the first, second, third, fourth year baccalaureate nursing students respectively, and 30 faculty members at Chonburi Nursing College. The data were collected, using two questionnaires

the Self-Care Attitude Scales (Hanucharurnkul, et al. 1989) and the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scales (Wallston, et al. 1978) The results of the study revealed that the mean scores on the self-care attitude of the second, third, fourth year nursing students and the faculty members were significantly higher than of the first year nursing students. For the mean scores on the multidimensional health locus of control, the students in each academic year and the faculty members had "the significantly higher internal health locus of control (IHLC)" than" the powerful others health locus of control (PHLC)" and "the chance health locus of control (ChLC)". In the nursing students group, the results demonstrated the length of experience in the nursing profession, and the THLC was positively significant correlated : PHLC and CHLC were negatively and significantly correlated with the self-care attitude. All the four variables were significant predictors for the self-care attitude. In conclusion, this study is similar with the previous studies, and it is initiated study about variables that correlate and can predict of self-care attitude. However, some limitations were presented, it is therefor suggested that further research are recommended.
