| บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย | : | The main objective of this research are to studythe current shelter situation for shop assistantsespecially sales staff who work in department stores ofBangkok Metropolis, their socio-economic status, livingconditions, the over view of housing provision, and theimportant factors influencing decisions for the futurehouses. The results of the research show that themajority of sales staff are women, with the age betweenl 9-26 years old. Most of them are originally fromNorth-Eastern and educated under secondary school. Mostworkers arrange their housing through rents. They tendto choose accommodation that are located near thedepartment store in order to reduce travelling time andexpenses. In fact, the travelling time was reduced tohalf and hour to one hour, irrespective by bus orwalking. Workers had to spend at least 28% of theirincomes for the accommodation allowance, this isconsidered to be a high portion compared to othernormal expense of their incomes. The rentedaccommodations are mostly placed in many forms such asflats and row brick buildings. The average montlyrental fee in is 1,680 Baht. In order to save costs, workers generally share among 2 to 3 persons per Iroom. From employers' point of view, there were subsidymade for workers in term of fringe benefits such ashousing allowance. However, they also admitted thatthere was only a minimal number of housing for workersprovided by employers. The criteria to choose thehousing are weighted consecutively as follows: 1. Theaffordable cost. 2. Location of housing 3.Transportation 4. Environments 5. Facilities. For theirfuture housing, they prefer to have their accomodationbuilded in their homtown. They also seem to be moreinterested in the houses initiated by government sectorthan that by the private development sector. Theaffordable cost of housing for them is under 300,000Baht with a monthly payment of 2,001-4,000 Baht The first recommended solution for the employersis to provided more cheap rented housing for workers,or to provide the transportation service for workers tocommute between the workplace and their house. Therecommended solution for government is to maintain thestandard of the rented accomodation and to promotehousing financial support for the lower income workersin order to seriously solve the housing problems. |
