This research has suggested a run sum Hotelling's X 2 chart which surpasses the exisitng multivariate charts for detecting shifts in the mean vector (Khoo et al., 2013a). As error usually occurs in process estimation, the run sum t chart was proposed to supplement the existing t type charts for process monitoring (Sitt et aI., in press). Three types of synthetic charts for time-between-events monitoring were also presented for monitoring high quality processes, where nonconforming items are rarely observed (Fang et aI., 2013). Optimal designs of the double sampling (DS) X chart were developed by Khoo et al. (2013b) and Teoh et al. (2014) to enable a correct implementation of the OS chart when process parameters are estimated. In practice, process parameters are usually unknown and are estimated.The economic designs of the synthetic X and synthetic T2 charts were presented by Yeong et al. (2013 and 2014) to consider the cost aspect of process monitoring. The power functions of the Shewhart chart that deals with the ability of the chart to detect process shifts were discussed in Khoo (2013a). As numerous researches on synthetic charts have been conducted, Khoo (2013b) reviewed the more significant works on synthetic charts in recent years.
